I grew up in a wasteland
Though I did not know it then
A place where morals were feelings
Love was misunderstood and fading
I noticed glimpses of full humanness
But they seemed like unexplainable accidents
I saw big governments, scientific improvements
But they lacked a rich reason for being
For awhile, for awhile
I did not know it then
I couldn’t see, I wouldn’t see
I observed religion and spirituality
But they stood nearly powerless
Without relevancy
Amazing coldness
Outstanding lostness
Ignorant cheerfulness
Happy entrapment
This is a land of
Remarkable, unbounding opportunity
Opportunity
However, deep truth was rejected
And uninteresting
So, for awhile, for awhile
I did not know it then
I couldn’t see, I wouldn’t see
I did not know it then
I did not know it then
I did not know it then
