A Steady Community

Night slides and strolls on

Everyone’s at home

I’m out here all alone

Thinking about where I’m headed

Do you know, do you know?

The streets sweat

After this last rain

I can see the lamps

Holding on to one last light

In the darkness and vacant night

My lady isn’t with me tonight

Where should I go tomorrow

Ain’t no job that is right

Money is slowly flowing out of my account

When will my future come into sight

Things have gotta change quick

new stability

Within the world’s too often incivility

Come with me

Open up a steady community

Almost nowhere is safe this late

The evening spells danger

Watch out for signs of hate

The gangs and the guys to be afraid of

The players, the playgirls, the police state

Look around the corner

Real careful now, look close

‘Could be a street hooker, a thief

Might be a mugger in a thug’s clothes

It’s just not the way it oughta be

We oughta know

new stability

Within the world’s often incivility

Come with me

Open up a steady community
